Polypropylene is used in a variety of industrial as well as display applications, it is a very versatile and rugged sheet offering ease of fabrication, high continuous operating temperatures as well as excellent physical, mechanical and anti-corrosive properties. Due to being physiologically inert (suitable for food contact). It is commonly used within food preparation areas e.g. food factories, kitchens, clean rooms & large bakeries & butchers. It can also be wiped down & cleaned with ease due to its resistance to many chemical solvents, bases and acids making it a first choice material for wall cladding and preparation areas. Many plastic items for medical or laboratory use can be made from polypropylene because it can withstand the heat in an autoclave. Bonding Polypropylene is near impossible due to its chemical resistance, though advancements in technology with regards to adhesives are getting ever closer to achieving this, although it can currently be welded using simple welding equipment and a welding rod. Polypropylene is commonly recycled, and has the number "5" as its resin identification code.
